Rotator cuff stretches are quite important for the mobility of the shoulder joint. The rotator cuffs pretty often tend to shortening what makes a stretching very reasonable.

Rotator cuff stretches

Rotator cuff stretches are easy to perform, even though many people tend to shortening in their shoulders. To stretch the external rotators both upper and forearm rotate inward and are being brought behind the back. Try to push your hand as far up on your back as possible. Flexible people are able to use the opposite hand from above to pull the arm upward. If you can’t reach your hand feel free to use a towel or similar to bridge the gap.

Be careful. An exaggerated inward rotation behind the back can worsen or even cause complaints in that area.

For another stretching exercise for the external rotators please read the article shoulder stretches. To stretch the internal rotators please read chest stretches.
