Fitness model – key element
The fitness model differentiates between sport- and health-oriented fitness. Fitness is a key element within the area of health promotion and deals with physical and mental factors of influence. So there are measures that can actively be taken by each and everyone that support health. If we approach fitness from a workout perspective the fitness model mainly contains health supporting effects that can be achieved with methods of physical strain. But also from a mental point of view it is important to train the individual ability to ease the mind and let go.

Within the fitness model it is essential to distinguish at least between two aspects. We have the ones that do fitness in terms of sport orientation. Such athletes go for maximum strains and competition and try to achieve high performances. This kind of fitness exceeds the area of health-orientation and always bears the risk of injuries, premature wear and overloading the immune system.

The health-oriented approach of the fitness model fosters the well-being. Practised correctly there is no risk of taking any damage. In other words: health-oriented fitness entails solely positive effects. There are different elements that characterize this concept that will be explained in the article health-oriented fitness.
